Site Manager, Somerset, NJ

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor Sales Personnel, Assistant and Associate Managers, and all staff to achieve high performance and to create long-term career plans for employees.
  • Mentors employees to create succession line.
  • Plans for annual staffing needs and works with the corporate Personnel Department to obtain candidates.
  • Assists with customers and directs handling of problems as appropriate.
  • Provides all staff with the necessary leadership to achieve maximum sales.
  • Sets pricing for quotes, decides on price reductions for obsolete stock and ensures that inventory value is maintained through excellent maintenance practices to maximize gross margins & profitability.
  • Monitors all operating costs & compares with budgets.
  • Regularly discusses with staff and Senior Management methods of reducing expenses & increasing sales to generate the desired profits.
  • Accountable for the management of inventory to maximize sales yet limit overstock and less desirable material to maximize sales potential
  • Reviews all receivers, daily sales and exceptions reports, and inventory reports for accuracy and potential gross margin issues.
  • Inventories items to ensure proper quantities for seasonal material to be available in adequate quantities in advance of peak sales periods.
  • Keeps up-to-date with competitive developments and informs Senior Management of relevant or concerning issues.
  • Manages the store’s credit sales process, including offering, monitoring, and collecting payments.
  • Ensures compliance with the established credit limits.
  • Designs displays and inventory layouts in relation to merchandising plans and supervises physical changes required to meet seasonal needs for space and display.
  • Responsible for providing a safe working & customer service environment.
  • Oversee all DOT regulations for drivers and all vehicles.
  • Responsible for the employees to function in a safe and professional manner always.

Requirements 4 – 6 years

  • Working in retail and wholesale garden center landscape management in the green industry.
  • Overseeing budgets, sales forecasts, and expenses.
  • Ability to conduct competitive analysis.
  • Detailed working knowledge of profit margins, accounting, and P&L statements.
  • Firm understanding of retail and wholesale operations.
  • DOT regulations and laws.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Strong communication skills are required to effectively interact with all Company employees.
