Landscape Garden Center Inside Sales – Barrington, NH

Overview: This position will focus on providing all aspects of customer service at the Distribution Center. In this position, you will be responsible for building strong relationships & understanding the needs of our customers with special emphasis on customers that are assigned by the Site Manager. You will have frequent contact with the Site Manager, other sales personnel at the site, General Manager, Purchasing Department, and customer service personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle incoming customer calls, greet customers, determine their needs, write orders, arrange for the loading of their vehicle, and ensures they have an experience that exceeds expectations.
  • Actively solicit quotes from accounts that are assigned to you, as well as respond in a timely manner to all customer requests for quotes.
  • Work with the Site Manager, General Manager, and Purchasing Department to maximize sales and profit margin opportunities.
  • Work within margin guidelines established by the Site Manager and General Manager.
  • Locate product and interact with the Purchasing Department to fulfill the requests of the customers.
  • Answer customer inquiries, initiate customer contact by phone, recommend substitutions, and solicit add-on sales.
  • Schedule deliveries and direct shipments.
  • Tag and secure material to be available for delivery or pick up per customer’s request.
  • Provide technical support to customers when necessary or per their request, which on occasion will require going to their job sites or place of business.
  • Actively participate in local industry trade association meetings and trade shows.
  • Provide support and back-up to the Outside Sales team including assisting them with quotes, sourcing, technical support, communicating availability and quality, customer complaints, and scheduling and tracking shipments.
  • Assist in monitoring site standards by communicating any deficiencies to the Site Manager. Such as irrigation, spacing, disease or insect problems, debris, plant quality, signage, etc.
  • Assist the Site Manager with markdowns by determining perceived value and recommending items that should be considered for markdowns, site specials, and promotions.
  • Assist with merchandising and impulse displays in high traffic areas including the showroom – ensure that signage is current and accurate and that we are changing displays on a regular basis to promote specials, seasonal items, color, etc.
  • Participate in training activities to become thoroughly educated in all product lines available through our network.
  • Any other duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Site Manager.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years retail, wholesale, landscape, horticultural experience, or a degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • High level of organizational and planning skills with specific ability to prioritize activities.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with seasonal work demands and fluctuations.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and listening skills.
  • Must possess and maintain functionality driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
